Spotlight on It-Girl: Christine Ousley

Please join us as we welcome It-Girl Christine Ousley into the Embellish-Online Blog Spotlight!

1. Describe your style in 5 words or less.....

Clean, graphic, linear, and cute

2. What is your favorite embellishment or technique right now and why?

Just one? Ribbon has always been a favorite of mine for embellishing but I also love to put texture and chipboard on there as well. Really I am just one of those girls who likes it all.

3. What time of day are you most creative?!

I am most creative mid-afternoon. I have always been more of a middle o the day person rather than a morning or night person. Of course that always seems to coincide with kids coming home from school and dinner needing to be made so I usually start much earlier or work later in the night but that is when I feel most of my ideas start to roll.

4. Ideas come at unexpected moments like when....

I am falling asleep. Usually by that time the contacts are out, I can't see and I am too tired to get back out of bed to write them down. So I usually forget a lot of them but some I remember in the morning. :)

5. Are you a planner or a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants sort of creator?!

I am very much of a planner though sometimes my projects work better in the end if I start with a plan and then roll with it.

6. Your favorites right now:

~Book: The Time Traveler's Wife
~Music: James Blunt
~Movie: A Good Year
~Snack: M & M's and gotta have my Starbuck's Frappuccinos.

Below are some samples of Christine's work featuring Pink Paislee's Twilight Collection. Check out the collection in our store HERE!

Embellish-Online.com Sponsors Cuttlebug Challenges Blog!

Cuttlebug Challenges Blog is celebrating their 1 year anniversary during the month of September, and we, at Embellish On-line, are celebrating with them. The entire month of September at Cuttlebug Challenges is devoted to celebrating birthdays, with themes of all
kinds from their DT.

Last week, they brought you ideas for all kinds of invites. This week they bring inspiration for gift bags & cards and challenge you to create your own birthday bag & card.

That's where we come in. Barb has graciously donated a $25 prize package of scrapping
goodies, to one lucky participant, selected from this week's gift bag/card challenge entries.
And, if that's not enough, some of the It Girls have gotten in on the inspiration this week on the site, www.cuttlebugchallenge.blogspot.com.

We hope you'll come visit & get started creating! The talent here is amazing & we'd love to see all of YOUR wonderful projects showcased on the Cuttlebug Challenges Blog during this fun and festive week of partnership!

Stitch It Up! Friday Challenge 58!

Welcome to the Friday Challenge 58: Stitch It Up!
Date: September 4, 2009
Hostess: Christine Ousley

Use stitching somewhere on a layout, card, or mini album. Use a sewing machine or explore the many possibilities of "faux" stitching.

Stitching on cards and layouts is one of my most favorite thing to do. You would be surprised how easy it is. Sewing with fabric and other materials is much more difficult. Paper doesn't slip around especially when you have a little adhesive to keep it in place. I also love that you can use stitching on embellishments where you don't want adhesive to show through. That is the case of my card where I used a transparency over my background paper.

Experimenting is the best thing to do. Take some scraps and sew in some circles, or along the edges. See what your different settings will do. You never know it be that extra little something that you were looking for to make your project complete.

And don't forget stitiching on cards and layouts does not have to be perfect, in fact, sometimes it looks better if is messy. Try it, you will like it!

Want to make your own? Here is where you can get the supplies I used.

~American Crafts; Thickers

Please play along with us! Use code FC58 when you upload to our gallery....and please post an note in this thread, so we are sure to see your creation!

Have a great weekend everyone!
